Core Values of BETHEL CHURCH FORTPORTAL

Every person is unique and we all serve Christ in different ways. While acknowledging that truth, we find it essential to unify our efforts as a body of believers. We have ten core values that define our efforts. These are the things we value, while also encouraging and supporting the many unique gifts God gives to individuals.

1. The Bible is our authority and is relevant for us today. Psalm 119.105; II Samuel 22.31; Colossians 3.16; Hebrews 4.12; James 1.22.

2. In corporate worship we celebrate God’s presence and involvement in our lives. I Chronicles 16.23-29; Psalm 95.6; John 4.24.

3. Spiritual growth is a daily process resulting in a changing life. ­Matthew 5.1-12; Romans 12.2; I Corinthians 13.4-12; Galatians 5.22-26.

4. Every person is important to God and therefore valued by us. John 3.16-17; I John 3.1; I John 4.16; Hebrews 2.6.

5. We experience life in its fullness through vital, Christ-centered relationships.

6. We believe excellence honors God and inspires people. Matthew 6.33; Romans 12.1; I Corinthians 15.58; Ephesians 5.15-16; Colossians 3.23-24; II Timothy 1.6

7. We approach life with a servant attitude. Matthew 20.26-28; Romans 12.3; Galatians 5.13; Galatians 6.2; Ephesians 6.5-9.

8. God has given every believer spiritual gifts to use in His church. Romans 12.4-8; Ephesians 4.11-16

9. Leadership is reserved for those demonstrating exemplary commitment to Christ and the church. ­I Timothy 3, 6.11-12; I Peter 5.1-3.

10. God calls all believers to unity in Christ. Ephesians 2.22; Ephesians 4.1-6; Colossians 3.12-14
